ABOUT
My name is Patricia Donato, and I’m currently a fine arts student. Although I graduated in 2023 with an Associate’s degree in English, I have returned to school for fine arts while simultaneously pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in psychology because I aspire to be an art therapist!
Creativity and the arts have always helped grow as an individual and process my own mental health struggles. Ever since I was small, I loved to write and to draw – I saw the world through the lens of my imagination. Throughout my childhood, I primarily wrote fiction. My work has appeared in online literary magazines such as Cathartic Literary Journal and Blue Marble Review, as well as in Cabbages and Kings.
My writing ventures soared, but unfortunately not for long. In 2024, I spent hours staring at blank pages, and described myself as having no identity without art. What was I if not an artist?
Slowly but surely, I began to paint and draw until I found myself again. I found a new and more meaningful identity – an identity and life which I explored through art. It wasn’t long until my aimlessness turned into ambition: I wanted to help other people experience this recovery.
